Google "My Maps" on the iPhone

Google Maps on the iPhone is a brilliant piece of software, but it isn't without shortcomings. One of them is its inhability to tap into a user's saved maps "My Maps", which are available on the web version on google maps.

To access to your personal google maps (marked as public) on the iPhone, follow the instructions on the left "All your public maps" box. To access a specific map (inluding unlisted ones), follow the instructions on the right "Individual map" box.
Confused? Take a look at this video (or head to youtube), courtesy of The Mac Video Guy (though refers to an old version of this site).

The resulting page is meant for browsing by an iPhone, and won't be functional on a desktop computer!
For easy access: send yourself this link by mail, check your mail on your iPhone. Then, in Mobile Safari, add a bookmark or to home screen!

Known limitations: Only simple markers are supported, no area, lines, nor custom markers. Description support is limited.

On your desktop computer, go to Google Maps, login, and click "My Profile".
On browser's address bar, the URL should be something like http://maps.google.com/maps/user?uid=555555555555555555555&hl=en.
Copy the value of the UID parameter into text box above. Copying the whole URL also works.
This will generate the link for the iPhone page.

Copy your map MSID into the text box above.
The MSID for a map is part of a map URL. Just load one of your maps, and copy the "View in Google Earth" link (copying the whole URL works, because the MSID is part of the URL, and will be extracted for you).
This will generate the link for the iPhone page.
